Victron VE.Bus BMS V2
The VE.Bus BMS V2 is the next generation of the VE.Bus Battery Management System (BMS) for Victron Energy smart lithium batteries. These batteries are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) and are available with a voltage of 12.8 V or 25.6 V in various capacities. They can be connected in series, parallel and series/parallel , so that a battery bank can be created for system voltages of 12 V, 24 V or 48 V. The maximum number of batteries in one system is 20, which allows a capacity of up to 84 kWh in a 12 V system and up to 102 kWh in a 24 V and 48 V system.
Based on the condition of the battery or batteries, the BMS system:
- It creates a preliminary warning signal that warns of an impending cell undervoltage condition.
- Disables inverting in VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via VE.Bus and disables other loads via the "Load Disconnect" terminal in the event of a cell undervoltage condition.
- It switches off charging in VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via the VE.Bus and switches off other chargers via the "Charging Disconnect" terminal in the event of a cell overvoltage, undertemperature or overtemperature condition.
The “new generation” VE.Bus BMS V2 has additional features such as:
- Remotely controlled on/off terminals.
- Possibility to turn off VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via GX device.
- Ability to control the VE.Bus inverter/charger from multiple devices such as Digital Multi Control, VE.Bus Smart dongle and/or GX device.
- Auxiliary power input and output terminals that allow the GX to remain powered even when the system is powered down.
Ve.Bus BMS V2 has the following LED indications:
- Status (blue): Lights up briefly once every 10 seconds to indicate normal operation.
- Temperature or Cell > 4V (Red): Illuminates when the charge disconnect output is low due to cell overvoltage or overheating.
- Cell > 2.8V (blue): Illuminates when the charge disconnect output is high and the battery cell voltage is greater than 2.8V.
