Relay

Relays are electrical switching devices that allow control of various parts of a photovoltaic system – for example, switching circuits on/off, switching modes, controlling charging, or protecting batteries.

Main uses of relays:

• Switching of DC and AC circuits in the system

• Battery charging control and power source switching

• Integration with control and monitoring systems for operation automation

• System protection against overload or dangerous conditions

Relay types:

• Electromechanical relays – classic switching relays with coil and contacts

• Solid-state relay (SSR) – contactless, quieter and faster switching

• Multifunction relay with timer or other functions
