Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-16A
The Victron MultiPlus is a combination of an inverter and charger in one elegant package. Its range of features includes a pure sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, PowerAssist hybrid technology and other features for integration into various types of systems.
One AC input
The MultiPlus is equipped with one AC input for connection to the distribution network or, for example, a generator. If two AC inputs are required, then we choose the Quattro unit.
Two AC outputs
The MultiPlus is equipped with two AC outputs. The main AC1 output ensures uninterrupted power supply. For example, in UPS mode, the MultiPlus will take over power supply to connected appliances (in less than 20 milliseconds) in the event of a power outage or generator failure.
The second output is only functional when AC input (mains/generator) is available. A load that would quickly drain the batteries, such as a water heater, can therefore be connected to this output and will be powered only by the AC source (second output available on models with a power of 3kVA and above).
Four-stage charging with adaptive charger and two battery charging outputs
The main output provides powerful battery charging via an “adaptive charging” system. The software controls the three-stage automatic charging process to suit the battery condition and adds a fourth charging stage – trickle charging. In addition, the MultiPlus can charge a second battery via an independent charging output, e.g. for generator starter batteries. The Multiplus is designed to charge all types of lead, alkaline and lithium batteries.
Virtually unlimited performance thanks to parallel operation
Up to 6 MultiPlus units can operate in parallel to achieve higher power. 6× 24/5000/120 inverters, for example, provide 25 kW / 30 kVA power and 720 A charging capacity.
Three-phase operation
Three units of the same type can be configured for three-phase operation. But that's not all: up to six sets of three units can be connected in parallel.
Unique PowerAssist features
MultiPlus prevents overloading of a power-limited AC source, such as a current-limited electrical outlet. If the input AC source is at risk of overloading, it will first automatically reduce the charging current to the battery. If it is still necessary, then in a second step the output AC current will be boosted using the current supplied by the battery.
Solar energy
MultiPlus can be used in both off-grid (island) systems and grid-connected photovoltaic systems. Although MultiPlus does not have a PV input, it is designed to work with MPPT controllers (for DC-coupled systems) or grid-connected inverters (for AC-coupled systems).
System configuration
Remote monitoring and system configuration
Monitor and control your system locally (LAN) or remotely over the internet from anywhere in the world using the free VRM app and free VRM portal.
Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or computer for various operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, using one of the following control panels you have access to monitoring and configuring the system from anywhere in the world.
Hybrid mode ESS – Energy Storage System
This mode is only for photovoltaic installations with an available distribution network (DS), a requirement for maximum use of the produced solar energy in combination with a regular DS and with the possibility of storing excess energy in batteries.
A detailed manual for the ESS system can be found HERE.

1. Classic grid-connected power plant with energy storage
Once the meter registers a supply to the distribution grid (hereinafter referred to as DS), the ESS system starts storing excess energy in the battery. Once the grid meter registers a purchase of energy from the distribution grid, the ESS system supplies energy from the battery to the load. In the event of a DS failure, the photovoltaics do not work and critical appliances (in the “Critical Loads” scheme) are powered from the AC output of the MultiPlus/Quattro unit - this ensures that only priority appliances discharge our battery and non-priority ones are disconnected.

2. The energy from the PV panels is processed by the MPPT solar controller
This solution is more suitable especially for smaller installations and has the advantage of higher efficiency – DC energy from PV is stored directly in a DC battery. Compared to the previous example, it achieves higher efficiency because there is no need to process the DC current to AC using a grid inverter and then convert it again from AC to DC for storage in the battery - this causes losses of 20–30%. In the event of a DS failure (blackout), only critical appliances are powered again, but the PV system remains fully functional and operates in a completely island/autonomous mode.

3. Variant without grid meter. Again possible in combination with both grid inverter and MPPT solar controller.
4. The ESS system can also function in this way and allows the combination of all three PV sources simultaneously.

Island – OFF-GRID mode for locations without connection to the distribution network:
The MultiPlus/Quattro is connected to the battery and supplies power to the appliances via the AC1 output. A generator can be connected to the AC input, which can be started automatically based on a request from the inverter or manually. Once the generator is started, the unit supplies power to AC outputs 1 and 2 and simultaneously charges the batteries together with the solar panels. Once the generator is switched off, power is again supplied from the battery/solar panels. The unit has two outputs for the load – the first output is always functional, the second output only when the generator is running.

Mobile application mode – RVs, military vehicles, ambulances

UPS mode
A very popular basic UPS mode. When a mains power failure occurs, the MultiPlus immediately starts supplying power to the backup loads from the battery. When mains power is restored, it switches back to the mains power and automatically fully charges the battery to prepare the system for the next possible failure. All this happens quickly without interrupting the power supply to the loads.
