Victron BP-220 Battery Protect (12/24V) BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from unimportant loads before the battery is completely discharged (which would destroy it) or until it still has enough capacity to start the engine. Disconnects appliances to protect against deep discharge of the battery Maximum load current 220 A Automatic setting 12/24 V BatteryProtect automatically detects the voltage in the system. Easily programmable BatteryProtect can be set to connect/disconnect at several different voltage levels. The seven-segment display shows which setting has been selected. Special settings for Li-ion batteries In this mode, BatteryProtect can be controlled via the VE.Bus BMS. Very low power consumption Low power consumption is very important for Li-ion batteries, especially after low voltage shutdown. For more information, please see the technical data for Li-ion batteries and the VE.Bus BMS user manual. Overvoltage protection In the event of an overvoltage that could potentially damage sensitive devices, the devices are disconnected if the DC voltage exceeds 16 V or 32 V. Spark-proof Does not work with relay elements, but with MOSFET transistor switches, so there is no sparking. Delayed alarm output The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the set value for more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine therefore does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is an open collector output on the negative bus, max. current 50 mA. This alarm output is typically connected to a buzzer or to a light signal. Delayed load disconnection The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm has been triggered. If the battery voltage rises to the “connection threshold” level during this time (e.g. during engine starting), the load will not be disconnected. BatteryProtect battery protection is unidirectional, i.e. current can only flow from the “in” input to the “out” output. Reverse current flowing from the “out” output to the “in” input is not permissible and will damage the device. BASIC SPECIFICATIONS Nominal voltage: 12/24 V Voltage range: 6–35 V Maximum continuous load current*: 220 A Peak current (for 30 seconds): 600 A Threshold voltage (disconnect): 10.5 V or 21 V Threshold voltage (connect): 12 V or 24 V Operating temperature: -40 to +40 °C (full load), up to 60% of nominal load at +50 °C IP protection: electronics IP67, connections: IP00 Connection (thread): M8 Dimensions: 123 × 120 × 62 mm Weight: 0.8 kg *BatteryProtect battery protection is not designed for reverse current from charging sources!
