The device is not only a converter between transmission media, but also serves as a PoE injector. The Planet FTP-80x converter series is an ideal choice for equipping remote network installations and applications.
They integrate two functions:
- 100Base-FX SM to 10/100Base-TX transmission media conversion
- Power over Ethernet injector
The network element is therefore an ideal choice for service providers, for office and corporate premises, or for expanding the network structure with WiFi technology, whose access points can be powered directly using converters.
The use of FTP-80x converters is directly recommended for the implementation and installation of IP camera systems, including cameras powered by PoE.
The IEEE 802.3af standard included in the FTP-80x uses 48V SS voltage in the Ethernet cabling, which allows the use of classic Ethernet UTP cabling between the FTP-80x and an IEEE 802.3af compatible device (PD-Powered Device) or PoE splitter (e.g. POE-151S-5V / 12V).
The maximum distance for using PoE power supply via Ethernet cable is up to 100m. To extend the range of the Ethernet network, the FT-80x is equipped with an integrated optical interface. This effectively allows you to extend the required range of the network connection, depending on the converter model, it is possible to implement a connection point up to 15km away via an optical link with the possibility of using PoE.
The converter technology uses a "store-forward" mechanism, which should actively prevent transmission losses using IEEE 802.3x. The LFP (Link Fault Pass Through function) function can alert the network admin to a device failure, the alarm function can be controlled with a DIP switch.
