Victron Orion XS 1400 DC-DC non-isolated
The Orion XS is designed from the ground up to redefine adaptive DC battery charging. For use in dual battery systems charged by a (smart) alternator, this device not only delivers top performance, but also ensures the safety of your system.
The Orion XS serves as a DC-DC battery charger or power supply and offers a wide range of input and output voltages. This is particularly important in the case of vehicles with a Euro 5 or Euro 6 intelligent alternator, which often delivers too low a charging voltage even when the engine is running, or where extended cable lengths, as is often the case with boats and motorhomes, lead to voltage drops. In such cases, precise and controlled charging is necessary to fully charge the service battery while protecting the starter/input battery from discharge.
Adjustable charging current
The charging current is adjustable with a minimum step size of 0.1 A via VictronConnect.
Compatibility with smart alternators
An integrated mechanism detects whether the engine is running (engine off detection) and only activates the charger when the alternator is supplying power. This ensures that the charger only draws power when the alternator is supplying power, i.e. when the engine is running.
Adaptive 4-stage charging algorithm
For lead-acid batteries, it is important that when the battery is only slightly discharged, the absorption time is short and the battery is not overcharged. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully recharged. The Orion XS features customizable charging algorithms and eight pre-programmed battery settings.
Low temperature shutdown and input undervoltage protection
To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger automatically shuts down at low temperatures. It also shuts down when the input voltage drops below a configurable lockout value and restarts when the input voltage rises above the restart value to protect the input source, i.e. the starter battery, from deep discharge.
Remote switch
The Orion XS can be switched on and off remotely using the remote on/off connector or the VictronConnect app. Typical applications include connection to a switch or battery management system (BMS).
Full electronic protection
This protection includes overload, short circuit and over temperature protection. The charger is protected against overheating by reducing the output power when the maximum product temperature is reached. The Orion XS meets the IP65 protection rating, making it dustproof and protected against heavy rain.
Can be connected in parallel to increase output current
The number of units that can be connected in parallel is not limited.
With Bluetooth Smart connectivity
A wireless solution for changing settings, monitoring activities and updating the Orion XS software using your Apple and Android smartphone, tablet or other device. The VictronConnect app can display key data, including warnings and alarms, on the device list page without having to connect to the product.
VE.Direct communication port
For wired connection to a GX device, such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, PC or other devices. Allows advancedRemote monitoring, control and diagnostics from anywhere (requires internet-connected GX device and VRM portal) or locally via remote access console.
