GEPON OLT (Optical Line Terminal) is a central unit for building GEPON network . The device provides highly efficient solution, convenient management, high bandwidth (1.25 Gbps for both upstream and downstream), long-distance coverage (up to 20 km between nodes) and flexibility. It is a reliable and cost-effective access technology for triple-play service applications.
4x GEPON port (1.25 Gbps in each direction, Optical Split Ratio 1:64, range up to 20 km, TX: 1490 nm, RX: 1310 nm, SC/PC, 9/125 µm, SM), 4x 1/10G Base-X SFP+, 4x 100/1000Base-T RJ-45 , 2x RJ-45 (management + console), support for VLAN, Link Aggregation, Spanning Tree Protocol, IGMP Snooping, ACL, QoS, dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA), L3 and EMS Utility.
With the expansion of technologies such as HDTV, IPTV, VoIP or multimedia content sharing, the demand for expansion and provision of the required connectivity is growing. Currently, GEPON (Gigabit-Ethernet Passive Optical Network) allows to provide services of the above nature on a passive optical network (effectively in terms of price and technical parameters).
We note that the number of connected clients depends only on the network design and, above all, the design of the optical branch. The number of clients of 64 is not a fixed limit and can be exceeded with careful design of the optical distribution.
