XtendLan POE-PAS

Passive Power Over Ethernet set (splitter + injector) for powering the AP via Ethernet cable. This is a complete set (injector + splitter). For shorter distances, it is usually possible to use the power adapter supplied with the AP as standard with a 5.5 x 2.1 mm connector.

The connection corresponds to conventional passive PoE - the center of the power connector is connected to the center wires (blue pair), the power connector sheath is connected to the outer wires (brown pair).

Power Over Ethernet is a simple way to power an access point on a rooftop or anywhere where mains power is not available.

Passive PoE uses the bare wires in an Ethernet cable to deliver power to a device on the far side. For short distances (up to 10 m, depending on the device), passive PoE is usually the best choice. For longer distances, use active PoE according to 802.11af.

Caution! Do not attempt to compensate for voltage drop over a long Ethernet cable run by using a non-standard power supply with a higher rated voltage than recommended for your active device.

The voltage drop on the ethernet cable only occurs when the source is under load and current flows through the cable. At the moment of reducing the current consumption (e.g. when the access point reboots), the full voltage of the source reaches the far end of the line, which can in extreme cases damage the access point's input stabilization circuits.
