The adapter enables backward compatibility of front panel or external devices using a 20-pin USB 3.1 Gen2 connector that can be connected to common motherboards without the aforementioned internal connector. It transfers the connection to a standard 19-pin USB 3.1 Gen1 connector that can be connected to any standard USB 3.1 Gen1 interface on the motherboard.
